Recognized as a masterpiece of car manga art, Initial D is popular across generations around the world. Since first appearing in Weekly Young Magazine in 1995, Initial D ran for 18 years and has expanded into TV anime, movies, gaming, and even pachinko. While there have been many Initial D diecast models, there’s been nothing like this before!
1/64 diecast minicars from the Initial D series have been created before, but this time SS Design Works (X@matin19761) which is taking social networks by storm with manga-style graphics painted on plastic models, is involved. After requesting some samples, Kyosho’s development team went straight to production with the pure artistic expression of SS Design Works.
Diecast minicar models aim to replicate the full-size cars by recreating the actual colors. However, this product reproduces the vehicle in the manga series with manga-style painting and shading of the body, window parts, wheels, tires, and other details. In addition, 4 types of backgrounds are included, depicting famous scenes with and without onomatopoeia. Drawn from the relevant scenes of the original work, onomatopoeia are scanned and synthesized to create backgrounds. By combining dynamic graphics of the painted diecast model with the backgrounds, you can recreate scene 6 from the manga.
The set includes three popular character's cars: Takumi Fujiwara's AE86/Sprinter Trueno, Keisuke Takahashi's FD3S/RX-7, and Ryosuke Takahashi's FC3S/RX-7 and comes with 4 backgrounds. Each car is housed in a clear case on a special pedestal mount in a specially designed window package so the car can be displayed on its own.
In addition to displaying the vehicle by setting it against the included background, you can also take 2D-style photos and share them to social media. The ways to enjoy these models is only limited by your imagination!
Fits neatly on to a bookshelf due to its book-size dimensions and makes an ideal collector's item.
Amongst the variety of diecast minicars that have been released including Initial D related models, this is the first time a set with manga-style painting has been attempted. This is a model car set for everyone to enjoy.
